At ATTIKA, we give you guidance, information, and support to help you take care of your health. But putting that guidance into practice is something only you can do.
We can build your training program, help you find realistic habits, and encourage you along the way. But you are the person that shows up, puts in the effort, implements those changes outside of the gym, and makes space for them in your life.
Your trainer is your guide, but the more you put in, the more you´ll get out.
There are 168 hours in a week. If you spend three of them with your coach, that leaves 165 hours where your everyday choices are yours to make. Hiring a personal trainer gives you guidance and support, they can give you habit changes suited towards your goals and adapt them to work with your lifestyle. But implementing that advice to therefore reach your goals still takes effort from you. Some changes will come easy, others will take practice, patience and adjustment. That’s part of the journey.
Taking responsibility also means telling us when something isn’t working.
We don’t automatically know if you were hurting the day after your session, if switching from white to brown bread has been harder than expected, or if going to bed earlier has meant lying awake for an extra hour.
If we don’t hear about it, we’re missing information that could help us guide you better.
You might feel reluctant to say something because you haven’t followed the advice, or that there´s no point as it didn´t work. But we´re not just here to congratulate you on your progress. We´re here to guide you when it´s not working. “I’m struggling with this” is a useful place to begin.
Sometimes you may not know what needs communicating, and that´s okay. Your coach is there to ask the questions you hadn´t thought about. It could be if you´re feeling the exercise in the right place, or you´ve been sleeping okay between sessions etc. As general guidance, if you experience something new in your day-to-day since training or changing program, it can´t hurt to just let your coach know.
We suggest something. You try it. You tell us what happened. Together, we work out what comes next.
Everyone has different needs, routines and starting points. Sometimes a simple tip can go a long way. Other times we may need to adjust it to make it smaller, use another approach or reconsider whether it’s right for you.
An unsuccessful attempt gives us something to learn from. Perhaps the plan asked too much of you at once. Perhaps an exercise needs adapting. Perhaps we haven’t yet understood what gets in your way.
Our responsibility is to listen, explain and help you find an achievable way forward. Yours is to make an honest effort and keep us informed.
While your coach will do what they can to make new habits fit easily into your life, shifting your lifestyle isn´t easy. Thsi is why at ATTIKA we implement changes one step at a time. But that doesn´t mean each change will be easy. There might be a struggle, it can be uncomfortable and that´s okay. When we do things we don´t always feel like doing we build that mental resilience, and over time they become easier. It could be that extra bit of movement, the extra vegetables on your plate, you may not enjoy the new habit, but it´s your responsibility to do your best, even when it´s hard.
Your best will look different from day to day. Taking responsibility can mean showing up for training, trying one small habit or telling your coach that you need more support.
It doesn’t require perfection. It requires participation.
We can help you find the next step. Only you can take it.
And when that step feels too difficult, tell us. That’s how we keep moving forward together.
The ATTIKA Way is a list of reminders of how we approach health in a healthy way.
With more kindness, less pressure, and a focus on building habits that actually last.
