Yesterday doesn’t define you. Your next step does.

The ATTIKA Way

Yesterday doesn’t define you. Your next step does.

“I’ve tried before. I always give up.”

“I’m just weak.”

“I’m not a gym person.”

Sometimes, before we’ve even given ourselves a chance to have a different experience, we’ve already decided how it will end.

We look back at what happened before and take it as evidence of who we are. The gym membership we stopped using. The routine we couldn’t maintain. The time we felt out of place or struggled with something that seemed easy for everyone else.

Over time, “that didn’t work for me” becomes “nothing works for me.”

And “I found that difficult” becomes “I’m not capable.”

But how much of what you believe about yourself comes from a conclusion you reached years ago and haven’t questioned since?

When an experience becomes an identity

Perhaps you were the last person picked for a team at school, or you had a terrible first experience at the gym…

Those experiences can stay with us long after the moment has passed.

You might still describe yourself as weak, even as you lift a weight you couldn’t lift a few months ago. You might call yourself inconsistent, despite having found your way back to training through several difficult periods.

Sometimes, our view of ourselves takes longer to change than our actual behaviour.

Have you ever considered that this old description might no longer fit?

Look back with curiosity

We’re not saying you shouldn’t look back at all. Looking back can help us understand how to approach things differently next time.

So don’t just look back in despair. Get curious. Why didn’t it work?

Was the commitment realistic? Did you know what to do? Did you feel comfortable asking questions? Were you following a plan that suited your life, or trying to make your life fit around it?

These questions give us something useful to work with.

“I can never stick to anything” leaves very little room to move. “I couldn’t keep up with my goal of training five days a week, so I gave up” gives us a much clearer idea of what could change.

In this case, you could set a more realistic goal and keep going, even during the weeks when you don’t meet it. Over time, you may build towards doing more. A goal gives you something to work towards; you don’t have to achieve it immediately for your effort to count.

At ATTIKA, your previous experiences help us understand you. We want to know what you enjoyed, what felt difficult and what made you stop.

Your history can inform the approach we take together without deciding the outcome in advance.

You don’t have to believe it all right now

You might hear this and think, “But I’ve told myself things will be different before.”

You don’t have to arrive convinced that this time will be different.

You can be uncertain and still give yourself an opportunity to learn.

This time, you can tell your coach as soon as you feel yourself falling behind. Together, you can adjust the approach before you reach the point of stopping completely.

But my next step defines me?

When we say your next step defines you, it might sound contradictory. Haven’t we just said that one action doesn’t determine who you are?

What matters here is your willingness to take that next step, whatever it looks like. You’re giving yourself another opportunity, even with the doubts and experiences you carry.

Yesterday may still affect how you feel, but you’re choosing to move forward without letting it decide the outcome. That willingness can be a defining moment.

It means you still have a say in the direction you take.

Yesterday doesn’t define you. Your next step does.

As we close this series on the ATTIKA Way, that’s what we want you to carry forward - the freedom to let go of limiting beliefs and move forward with courage.

You can learn from the past. You can acknowledge what was difficult. And you can leave room for a different experience.

That´s how we define the next steps in our health.

¨Yesterday doesn’t define you. Your next step does.¨ is part of the ATTIKA Way.

The ATTIKA Way is a list of reminders of how we approach health in a healthy way.

With more kindness, less pressure, and a focus on building habits that actually last.

The ATTIKA Way Reminders List

InBody measurements are an accurate body composition reading tool to help us see your quantifiable progress of your personal goals you and your trainer have defined together.

We will be able to track:
  • Analysis of body composition – muscle, body fat, water retention
  • Comparison analysis for upper/lower body and left/right side balance
  • Setting specific health goals
  • Tracking and comparing your progress with previous measurements

At Attika our priority is your health. We have met plenty of people with six packs that are totally miserable and unhealthy. Having a six pack can be a side effect of healthy habits and of course we can help you to get there, if you wish to do so. However, our priority is creating healthy mindset and habits towards becoming a better human, feeling good in your own skin, and having energy to keep going. The looks are a bonus 🙂

Cool!
