The driver´s seat of our mental and physical health

Small habits for our body and the mind

The driver´s seat of our mental and physical health

We often think of health as something we do.

A workout. A diet. A routine.

But what if health is not only what we do…
What if it is the state we live in?

The nervous system sits at the centre of it all

Your nervous system is constantly asking one question:

Am I safe… or am I under threat?

And the answer to that question affects everything.

Your energy.
Your digestion.
Your recovery.
Your focus.
Your mood.
Your ability to train.
Your ability to rest.

When your system feels safe, supported, regulated…

You move better.
You think clearer.
You recover faster.
You feel more like yourself.

When it feels overwhelmed, stressed, under pressure…

The body tightens.
The mind races.
Progress slows down.
Everything feels harder than it needs to.

So the goal is not just to “train harder” or “think more positively”.

It is to support the nervous system.

And the beautiful part?

We can do it from both directions.

Through the body.
Through the mind.

Two systems that constantly speak to each other.

Helping each other…
Or exhausting each other.

So let’s explore both.

Not as rules.

But as questions.

Through the body

How are you moving throughout your day?

Not just your 1-hour session…

But the other 23 hours.

Are you only moving when it’s scheduled?

Or are you allowing your body to move in small ways, often?

A stretch between meetings.
Dropping into a squat and just breathing there for a moment.
Opening your chest, reaching your arms wide, taking a deep breath.

These small movements might seem insignificant…

But they send signals to your nervous system:

You are not stuck.
You can move.
You can breathe.

When was the last time you took a deep breath… on purpose?

Not because you had to.

But because you chose to.

Slow breathing has been shown to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, helping the body shift into a “rest and digest” state, reducing stress and improving overall wellbeing.

Are you using movement to punish your body…

Or to connect to it?

Strength training is essential. It builds resilience, supports longevity, and gives your body structure.

That’s why ATTIKA exists.

But strength is not only built in intensity.

It is also built in awareness.

In knowing when to push…
And when to soften.

When was the last time you walked without a goal?

No steps to hit.
No pace to follow.

Just walking to clear your head.

Are you allowing your body to recover?

Or are you constantly asking it for more?

Through the mind

How often do you pause during your day?

Not scroll.
Not distract.

Pause.

Do you give your thoughts space to exist…

Or do you constantly try to push them away?

Journalling.
Even a few lines.

What am I feeling right now?
What do I need today?

Do you make time for joy?

Not productivity.
Not self-improvement.

Joy.

Laughter with friends.
A slow coffee.
A moment that has no purpose other than feeling good.

Are you creating… or only consuming?

Creativity, even in small forms, has been linked to improved brain function, emotional regulation and overall life satisfaction.

It doesn’t have to be big.

Writing.
Cooking.
Moving.
Expressing.

When was the last time you spent time in nature?

We live in Barcelona.

The beach.
The parks.
The hills overlooking the city.

It’s all there.

Nature has a powerful effect on the nervous system, scientific studies have proven the lowering cortisol levels and helping the body return to a calmer, more regulated state.

Where the two meet

Food.

Are you nourishing your body…

Or just feeding it?

Nutrition is physical.

But it is also mental.

It is how you choose.
How you eat.
How you feel while eating.

Rituals.

Do you have small moments in your day that are yours?

Morning coffee without your phone.
A short walk after lunch.
Five minutes of breathing before bed.

Small, repeated actions create a sense of safety and predictability in the brain. Studies show that consistent daily rituals can reduce anxiety and improve emotional stability.

So where does this leave us?

Health is not only in the big things.

It is in the small, repeated ones.

The ones that seem too simple to matter.

But done consistently…

Change everything.

You don’t need to do it all.

You don’t need to be perfect.

You just need to start noticing.

Where can you move a little more today?

Where can you pause, even for one minute?

Where can you choose something that supports you…

Instead of drains you?

Because your mental and physical health are never separate.

They are always in conversation.

The question is…

What are they saying to each other right now?
