Do you still prioritise yourself when it´s no longer easy?

When life got harder, strength training became more rewarding for Liora

Do you still prioritise yourself when it´s no longer easy?

When Liora first joined ATTIKA in May 2025, she had recently welcomed her second child.

Like many new mums, she wanted to feel strong again.

She wanted exercise to become part of her routine, regain her physical strength, and feel comfortable in her body again.

However, returning to exercise wasn't as simple as jumping straight back into training.

She was only three months postpartum and managing a disc issue that made certain movements feel intimidating.

Emily remembers those early sessions well.

"We started very gently. Much of the first few sessions were spent on the floor, rebuilding confidence in movement before worrying about lifting weights."

It wasn't about getting her to her goal as fast as possible. It was about building confidence in the body.

Then, life got busier

At first, training naturally fit into Liora's life.

She was on maternity leave and lived just around the corner from the studio.

Coming to the gym was easy. Until everything changed...

She returned to work full-time.

She moved to a different neighbourhood.

She was juggling two young children.

Suddenly, training wasn't nearly as convenient.

Eventually, she took a break while she figured out how to make everything work.

Many people would have left it there.

But Liora didn't.

She took one of the hardest steps in any of these journeys. She came back.

And looking back, that's actually what surprised her the most.

"The fact I came back even when it's harder to prioritise and not as 'easy' or 'convenient' - that's the biggest surprise."

Stronger than before

And with that, strength, her goal, naturally started to build.

She describes the biggest change as: "Moving past recuperation and damage control and into training with confidence in my body's capabilities."

Emily has watched that transformation happen first-hand.

"When Liora started, we took things slowly because of her disc issue and being postpartum. Now she's confidently deadlifting and lifting weights she never imagined she'd enjoy.”

Making the effort made it all more meaningful

Liora´s story demonstrates that showing up for yourself when it´s difficult can be the biggest reward. Each session is more rewarding because she knows she is working hard to make sure she takes that time for herself.

The effort of making the journey, planning around work, childcare, just shows to her, and everyone else, how important training has become.

More than just strength

When we asked what made her come back, Liora's answer wasn't just about exercise.

It was about feeling good in her body again. And not having to worry about her back in daily life.

And, of course...

"Emily! ...And have I mentioned Emily?"

People come for the training. Then they stay because they feel supported.

Because they trust the process and someone is there to help them through the moments when they're unsure.

Liora's advice:

If Liora could speak to someone who's thinking about starting strength training but isn't quite sure, she'd keep it simple.

"It's okay to start small. It's okay to take it slow. Pay attention to your body and the feedback it gives you. Go somewhere you feel comfortable. And like everything else in life, if you don't know how to do it, just get the help of a professional."

The takeaway

It's easy to believe that you'll look after yourself once life becomes less demanding.

But for many of us, life doesn't suddenly become quiet.

There will always be another busy week, deadline, another reason to wait.

Liora's story reminds us that perhaps the goal isn't to wait for life to become easier.

Perhaps it's to become stronger so you can navigate life as it is.

Because sometimes, the seasons when it feels hardest to prioritise yourself...

are exactly the seasons when you need it the most.
