Jacob didn’t get a personal trainer to hit a certain number on the bar. It was so that he could ´be consistent´. And with that, the results came afterwards.
Some days you feel ready to train.
Other days, work has been busy, you’re tired, and you’re already questioning how well you’ll perform.
But the truth is, you don’t really know how you’ll feel until you get there.
So what if the goal was simply to show up?
When Jacob joined ATTIKA in August 2025, he wasn’t chasing a dramatic physical transformation or a particular weight he wanted to lift.
He wanted to build a consistent fitness routine, become stronger and have something that helped him stay mentally balanced.
And that’s exactly what he did.
His coach Emily says that even when work gets busy, Jacob never misses a session. In around a year and a half of training, he has called in sick only once, and was gutted to miss it.
As Jacob puts it:
“Not every day is going to be your best day, and that’s absolutely fine. As long as you keep showing up, that adds up to something you can be really proud of.”
Emily remembers one session particularly well.
Jacob had an important meeting with his colleagues immediately after training. He’d got up extra early to prepare and even arrived a little late to his session because he was still working on it.
He came in visibly nervous.
He could easily have skipped training and spent that hour at home worrying and preparing some more.
Instead, he showed up.
And once he was there, he channelled all that nervous energy into his workout.
He smashed the session, and then went on to smash the meeting too.
It’s a great reminder that we don’t always know what we need before we arrive.
Sometimes the session you’re considering skipping because you’re stressed, distracted or not feeling your best is exactly the session that helps.
Alongside strength training twice a week, Jacob was also training for the Barcelona marathon last year. Even with all the running, he continued his strength training and even came in for mobility sessions during the week of the race and afterwards.
The flu interrupted his preparation too, but once he recovered, he got back to it.
It wasn’t about having a perfect training streak. It was about returning to the routine.
And having support around him has helped.
Jacob says that Emily’s coaching, the energy at ATTIKA and being surrounded by people who care about their health. His boyfriend Ignacio also trains at ATTIKA, and seeing his progress motivates Jacob too.
“It’s so helpful to have a community that takes physical health and wellness seriously to create that accountability and shared purpose.”
When Jacob started, he was squatting around 40kg. Today, he’s squatting 80kg.
His deadlift has gone from around 60kg to 100kg.
His posture has hugely improved; he’s built muscle, and he says he’s more flexible and mobile than he has been in many years.
“I’ve gotten a lot stronger, to be sure, but I’m more flexible and mobile than I’ve been for many, many years and it is paying off.”
The important thing is that these numbers weren’t his original goal.
They’re what happened because he kept coming.
Sometimes we decide how a workout is going to go before we’ve even arrived.
I’m tired.
I won’t perform well today.
Maybe there’s no point going if I can’t give it my best.
I feel overloaded with work…
Remember Jacob´s story
What if your goal was simply be to arrive?
You might have a brilliant session. You might have an average one. You might need to adapt.
They all count.
A year ago, Jacob said he would have been pleasantly surprised to know he’d still be training consistently today.
Now he’s considerably stronger, more mobile, and still progressing.
Jacob’s goal was consistency.
His results are what consistency gave him.
